I am always looking for good book suggestions and I love giving my own. I can talk about books more than anyone cares to listen. This summer, reading is a major activity in my home. My six year old is still learning this skill so we are hitting the books hard! So whether for leisure or learning check out these selections!
Diary of a Worm, Diary of a Spider, and Diary of a Fly by Doreen Cronin and Harry Bliss. My son loves these book! My husband and I love them too! I recommend owning all three as your child will want to read them over and over. You can even add to fun by bringing home the finger puppets from each story. These are picture books with short sentences. Find the above gift set HERE or check out Amazon or your local booksellers. I found one of my copies at Goodwill! For Ages 4 and up.
The Mercy Watson series of beginner chapter books by Kate DiCamillo. Again, another set my little one loves. He was introduced to these by his Kindergarten teacher and wants to own each one. This book is an excellent chapter book for early readers who want more than a few pages to read. Perfect book for reading practice or to snuggle up the couch with. Click HERE to check out the large selection of books and plush pigs to go along with the story at Barnes and Noble. Recommended for Ages 6-8.
The Hundred Dresses by Eleanor Estes. I recently recommended this book to a friend on Facebook and just had to mention it here again. This book is on my MUST READ list for young girls. I remember reading it as a little girl, I want to say around age 7, and being moved by it. Written in 1944 this book transcends time and is still very relevant today. It teaches the important lesson of acceptance and if you have not read it...READ IT! Share it!
For your Teens and You! I am an adult that really enjoys YA literature. I especially love the Dystopian genre of books that are in huge demand these days. I am leaving the reviews up to the readers at Goodreads.com for these. Go check them out...if you are not already a member of Goodreads you should be! Click on each book to be taken to their reviews.
We would love to know what is on your summer reading list! Share your favorite stories with us and maybe we will feature them here!
Hey awesome fun guys! We listened to Divergent and Insurgent via audiobook on our Idaho road trip. There were a couple of sexual things that I fast forwarded for my tween, and pre-tween.. but the books were really good! LIS
