Baking Soda Facial

Here is another pin I tried out last night. The great thing about doing this blog, is that I am actually doing the pins instead of just "saving" them for later and forgetting all about it. I am so glad I tried this one too!

First off, it is originally from this blog, and the writer has a disclaimer saying she has no idea how often to do it, but she does it once a week. I am tempted to do it everyday, but I won't. It firmed up my skin and made it glow so nice. Even my husband noticed...which is pretty amazing. No offense, Sweet!

I did my own version of this, but it's essentially the same.
The original recipe calls for 3 Tbsp of baking soda and 1 Tbsp of water, but I lessened it to teaspoons because of the not-so-successful attempts at other pins.
So, to sum up, I used:

  • 3 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp water
  • Cheapie toothbrush
I rubbed the soft toothbrush in circular motions all over my face because I read here about the benefits of dry brushing. I only did it on my face though, instead of my whole body as the article suggests. I figured it wouldn't hurt. Then I used my fingers to apply the mixture and patted it on, and rubbed it on, and then tried to spread it on. It was proving difficult because it was very thick and powdery still. It worked out okay though. I eventually got it on. I waited 5 minutes and then used warmish water and my toothbrush to gently scrub my face. Then rinsed with cold water to close the pores. I pat dried my face with a soft towel and then immediately applied moisturizer. I also used this that I got from TJ Maxx for a steal. It's Platone Vitalizing eye serum and has helped soften the fine lines around my eyes. I used it on my forehead too.

Afterwards, I felt like a Queen- even if my hair looked like a Who from Whoville. I was so overjoyed with the results and marveled at how wonderful baking soda is. I realized I had a bit left and so I scrubbed my wedding ring with it because my mother in-law said that's how you should clean jewelry. And it turned out sparkly and beautiful- imagine that!

I hereby rate this pin 5 out of 5 stars!
